2) Licenses, regulations, rules...

We are overjoyed to have been given the opportunity to use such a great boat! At the same time, the pressure to generate sales with this boat is increasing. After all, a boat like this is not cheap, neither in financing nor in everyday operation. Then there's insurance, boat storage costs, maintenance and much more...

This is the first time it really shows how good it is that there are two of us. Sometimes we alternate daily with doubts. Fortunately, we can always rely on each other to find the right motivation to keep going.

An extremely intensive period now begins. We start training for the required boat license.

It is possible to obtain this license in 3 weeks.

There's a good reason why most people take longer. Here's why:

15 days of theory lessons of 8 hours each are required, 120 hours of theory in total. In addition, there are theory exams in 6 subjects and 2 days of practical training followed by an exam.

Our 3 weeks look like this:

  • Wednesday to Sunday online lessons

  • Monday all day and Tuesday morning studying for 2 exams, which we will take on Tuesday evening in Stavanger.

  • Third week, Sunday evening after class we drive to Oslo (8h drive) to complete the practical part there for the next two days.

  • Tuesday evening return journey (8h) to be able to write our last two exams in Stavanger on Wednesday.

Completely exhausted after this challenge, we actually made it despite all the adversities (Jim and navigation, me and the dear language).

We warmly recommend everyone to take more time!

We quickly completed the last remaining courses on crisis management and "swimming exercises". These individual days feel absolutely relaxed and we are incredibly excited to be able to offer our first tours with the new boat soon :)
